Minister Dipuo Peters launches Transport Month in North West, 1 Oct

Transport Minister, Ms. Dipuo Peters, will officially launch the 2016 October Transport Month Campaign (OTM) on Saturday, 1 October 2016 in Mmorogong village, near Tlhatlhaganyane in the Moses Kotane Local Municipality, North West Province under the theme: “Together we move South Africa Forward”.

Minister Peters will launch the campaign by opening the Provincial Road P54/1 between Matooster and Ruighoek which will link communities of Mmorogong and Tlhatlhaganyane.

Approximately 31km long, the road was not in a good condition and had to be rehabilitated. P54/1 is an important economic road that also links Rustenburg and Pilanesberg areas via Ledig, Matooster and Ruighoek.

The month-long OTM programme officially showcases transport infrastructure projects, promote the use of public transport and advance the country’s road safety initiatives including the 365-Days road Safety Campaign aimed at promoting road safety throughout the 365 days of the year.

The Minister will be joined by the North West provincial MECs for Public Works and Roads Mr Madoda Sambatha, Community Safety and Transport Management, Dr M.N. Motlhabane, CEOs of Transport State Owned Entities, key transport stakeholders and members of the community.
