Get an assistive device (wheelchairs, etc)

An assistive device is any gadget or technology that people with disabilities can use to help them function better. The most common of these are wheelchairs, walking aids and hearing aids.

If you are a new patient, the hospital where you were treated will refer you to a rehabilitation professional to assess, prescribe and fit your assistive device.

If you have an old disability you can go to your nearest clinic or community health centre to refer you to the rehabilitation service.
