The Department of Higher Education and Training has introduced the Central Applications Clearing House (CACH) service for matriculants who struggle to secure a place at the educational institution of their choice.
This will minimise long queues at the institutions of higher learning.
The CACH facility will match a prospective student’s profile, study preference, universities, technical and vocational education and training (TVET) colleges and learnerships within the sector education and training authorities (SETAs).
The recorded information will be submitted to the relevant universities. Where places exist and applicants meet the requirements, institutions will contact students to offer them available places.
Students can contact the CACH service from January to February between 8h00 and 20h00 on 0800 356 635, or online at http://cach.dhet.gov.za. Alternatively, SMS your name and ID number to 49200.
