About exporting animals, embryos, ova and semen

To export animals or genetic material such as embryos, ova or semen from South Africa, you must apply for an export permit from the Registrar of Animal Improvement.

The relevant breeders’ society or registering authority must recommend your application to export.

Submit your application to the Registrar 30 days before you intend to export the genetic material.

What you should do

  1. Complete the application form.
  2. Submit your application with the required attachments to:

  3. Pay the prescribed fee and attach proof of payment to the application form.
