Health is one of the basic Human Rights that our liberation struggle heroes and heroines fought for. It is therefore a big challenge for us to fulfil the right to health care. For us it is not just a right, it is a responsibility we must not fail in fulfilling because health care is sometimes a matter of life and death.

Re ntse re tsweletse re leka ka natla go dira gore moagi mongwe le mongwe a ungwelwe mo ditshwanelong tse di tlisitsweng ke kgololosego.

Fela jalo le mo tshwanelong ya boitekanelo. Re bona go na le go tokafala mo go kgotsofatsang.

A e re tiiseng moko mme re dira thata go fitlhela tse dingwe tse dikgolo.

TB is a curable condition however it’s amazing that it still kills millions of people around the world. In South Africa alone, it accounts to 7.3% deaths and in the North West Province the death rate has dropped from is 8.2% to 7.3%.However, we still feel it is unacceptable that people should die of TB when it is curable.

Go mo maruding a mongwe le mongwe yo o leng fa gompieno go dira sengwe le go tsaya karolo mo go lwantsheng le go fedisa TB.Re le Ma-Aforika Borwa, re lebagane le dikgwetlo tsa go kgonana le mokgweleo wa HIV mo magaeng a rona a le mantsi.Ke go pega mokgeleo mo go dimo ga o mongwe fa re palelwa ke go alafa TB e e leng go re yone go sa tshwane le HIV, e alafega mo sebakeng sa dikgwedi tse thataro fela fa o nwa ditlhare tsa gago jaaka o laetswe dingaka le baoki.

We are again faced with severe types of TB such as MDRTB and XDRTB which are the results of TB that was not managed properly by us and by us I mean the people of North West Province.

TB and HIV are Siamese twins whom we have to ensure that we separate them by treating and eliminating TB, and treating HIV with ARV drugs.

Jaaka re itse go re TB ya alafega, go ka nna mosola tota gore balwetse ba rona ba HIV ba tswetelele go alafa TB fa ba na le malwetse ka bobedi.Se se ka nolofatsa mokgweleo mme wa simolola wa lepalepana fela le go nwa di ARV tsa HIV.

We have always been challenged with minimal resources and as one of the rural provinces with a high unemployment rate but we are treating TB in all of our facilities. We have a functional MDR and XDR TB units in Klerksdorp and we have opened a new MDR TB unit in Greater Taung Hospital for down referral of stable patients. This is a commitment on our government that we are striving for the health of our fellow South Africans.

Ka jalo bagaetsho, ga ke solofela maipato ape.O ka bona kalafi ya TB mo maokelong le ditliliniki tsotlhe tsa rona.

We are urging the community of the North West Province to fight TB together and the community of Yizo Yizo to take the lead in ensuring that we reach all our targets such as our TB cure rate, DOTS coverage and treatment completion. The Community of Yizo Yizo should use the Health facilities and ensure that they become the ambassadors for TB in the province because today we are here to support you the people of Yizo Yizo.

Re tshwanela go tswelela go dirisana mmogo le TB Free go netefatsa go re re fitlhelela maikaelelo a rona a porofense e e senang TB.

Lastly, I wish to bring your attention to the following symptoms of TB that we must take seriously.

  • Persistent coughing
  • Chest pains
  • coughing up blood sputum
  • Shortness of breath
  • Breathing difficulty
  • Weight loss
  • Night sweating
  • No appetite
  • Weakness or fatigue

Let us act swiftly against these symptoms and STOP TB now. It is important for us and for the future health of our people.

Puso ya rona e tla dula ka metlha e leka mekgwa yotlhe ya go tokafatsa matshelo a rona. Se, se tla bonagala gape ka moso ga re tla be re tlhankgolala Leano la go lwantsha TB, HIV le AIDS (Strategic Plan for TB, HIV and AIDS). Ke rata go lo tsibosa gore, leano le le tla dira fela fa re thusana go le tsenya tirisong le fa rona jaaka baagi re tsaa maikarabelo a matshelo a rona.

“Fa re dira mmogo re ka kgona go le gontsi”

Ke a leboga

I thank!
