Zero tolerance on crime and unruly behaviour during England versus United States of America (USA) game

North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa is satisfied that security measures and deployments of adequate and professionally competent personnel that are in place will ensure that the England versus United States of America 2010 Football World Cup match to be played at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday is a safe sporting event.

According to MEC Yawa, crime prevention and traffic law enforcement operations have been intensified and a stadium log-down implemented as from Wednesday. All vehicles entering the stadium precinct henceforth have to go through the remote search park for a thorough scan.

“A zero tolerance against crime, unruly fans and spectators will be maintained throughout Rustenburg, Park n Rides, Park n Walk, Fields Fan Fest, public viewing areas in our respective districts and at the stadium venue” stresses Yawa.

Fans and spectators are reminded that food, alcohol or drugs, cups, jugs or cans, weapons, sharp objects and umbrellas, racist or xenophobic material like t-shirts or flags, promotional or commercial material, banners or flags larger than 2 x 1,5 meters fall within the list of prohibited items at the stadium and public viewing areas.

Though excessive noise, megaphones, hooters or gas-powered horns are not allowed, however, vuvuzelas will be allowed. Fans are also reminded that in their excitement, they should not stand on seats, enter the pitch or the area around the football pitch.
