Yawa sends condolences to deceased police reservists

North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa is saddened by a report that four police reservists were killed and eleven others critically injured in a road accident in Tlhabane outside Rustenburg on Saturday morning.

Though the cause of the accident is at this stage unknown, preliminary on the scene police investigations suggest that the vehicle they were driving in (a Toyota Quantum minibus) veered out of control and overturned at around 07h30 this morning. The 15 police reservists were on their way to a briefing parade at Olympia Stadium for commencement of the day’s crime prevention operations in preparation of the Football Confederation Cup matches to be hosted at Royal Bafokeng.

The MEC sends his condolences to the families and colleagues of the officers who died on duty and wish those who were admitted to Fern Crest and Peglerae Hospitals a speedy recovery. Names of the deceased will be released at a later stage after their next of kin have been informed.
