On Tuesday 21 September 2010, Government in partnership with SABC 1 brought you another episode of the reality show called “Rize Mzansi”. The eleventh episode of this television series featured information on tendering for government projects. 

Government creates economic opportunities through tendering processes with aims to accelerate delivery of service to the public by contracting private business to supply goods and services.

There is a list of 10 goods and services that government procures from small and medium size enterprises which are supplies of; 

  • Advertising, Media and Communication
  • Interior and exterior cleaning services and cleaning products supplies
  • Clothing and textiles
  • Computer equipment and consumable supplies
  • Interior and exterior furniture and décor
  • Events coordination and management
  • Maintenance and repairs; construction; office space; furniture; computers and vehicle body works
  • Travel coordination and shuttle services
  • Food perishables supplies
  • Stationery supplies and printing

Government has set up number of tender Information Center (TIC’s) as facilities available to small business to provide information on how doing business with government should be conducted. To find out about bids, businesses should register on the database of departments or municipalities or consult notice boards and websites of departments or municipalities regularly.

Businesses can also subscribe to the National Government Tender Bulletin and the various Provincial Tender Bulletins.
