Working together to grow an economy that benefits all

On Tuesday, 7 September 2010, government in partnership with SABC 1 brought you another episode of the reality show called “Rize Mzansi”. The ninth episode of this television series featured information on Sector Education and Training Authorities or SETAs.

Government’s economic opportunities available through the Manufacturing and Engineering SETA (merSETA) were profiled in the episode through a success story of the merSETA teaming up with Wispeco Aluminium, a private company to fund a program called the SpaZAL project that is creating jobs and developing skills amongst new and emerging young black entrepreneurs in the aluminium manufacturing sector.

The main focus of SpaZAL is to penetrate the township and rural markets and at the same time empower and support upcoming entrepreneurs in the construction industry and give them skills to build sustainable businesses in their communities.

To find out more about the merSETA’s New Venture Creation Program contact Owen Steyne-mail Owen on osteyn@merseta.org.za or call merSETA on 011 551 5201 or 2 or visit merSETA’s website at http://www.merseta.org.za.
