Minister for Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities, Noluthando Mayende-Sibiya urges women, people with disabilities and other appropriately qualified persons to apply for senior management positions that have become available within her department.
At least 30 new senior positions, ranging from deputy directors, directors to chief directors have been advertised as part of the department's efforts to increase capacity and upscale programme implementation.
The positions require expertise on issues relating to gender, children's rights and disability as well as organisational support services. The closing date for the positions is 20 August and details can be accessed on the departmental website: http://www.wcpd.gov.za.
"We invite all suitable qualified people, particularly women and people with disabilities to apply and join this struggle to improve the lives of women, children and persons with disabilities in our country," said Minister Mayende-Sibiya.
She said the selection process for the top positions of deputy director-General responsible for each of the three branches of the department (Women, Children and Persons with Disabilities) as well as support services has been completed and the announcement of these appointments will be made soon.
"The establishment of a totally new ministry and department has been a challenging, but exciting process which is now culminating into great outcomes. We have to ensure that the people from the sectors we represent seize the opportunities that are becoming available," said Minister Mayende-Sibiya.
She also expressed excitement about the success of Women's Day celebrations taking place across the country with close to 30 000 people attending the main National Women's Day event at the Amalgamated Banks of South Africa (ABSA) stadium in East London on Monday, 9 August.
"Mass participation of women in these activities indicates that we are connecting with our constituencies. We will continue to consult and engage with all groups working on issues of gender, children's rights and disability to maximise unity in addressing the many challenges facing them," said Minister Mayende-Sibiya.
