Veteran energy administrator appointed Deputy Director-General (DDG)

Mr George Mnguni, was yesterday, Wednesday, 1 September appointed by cabinet as a Deputy Director-General responsible for Corporate Services (which includes inter alia communications, human resources management and development, auxiliary services, legal services as well as risk management), Energy Director-General, Ms Nelisiwe Magubane, announced today.

 Mr Mnguni was until recently the Chief Director responsible for human resources in the department. He was also responsible for the same portfolio in the former Department of Minerals and Energy. A seasoned human resources practitioner, Mr Mnguni, holds a number of qualifications including, amongst others, a Masters Degree in Public Administration.

“I feel humbled by the confidence that cabinet, the minister and the DG have shown in me. I will execute my new responsibilities with the fortitude that they rightfully deserve. Corporate Services is an important pillar in the work of the department. It is playing a crucial role in supporting the main branches of the department in carrying out their mandate of providing energy security for our country,” Mnguni said.

 Ms Magubane said, “I want to congratulate Mr Mnguni on his well deserved appointment. I have huge respect for his diligence, professionalism as well as his capability. This is one of the best appointments that government has ever made.”
