Today, the Ministers of Trade and Industry, Mineral Resources and Economic Development convened a mediation process with the chief executive officers of Arcelor Mittal South Africa (AMSA) and Kumba Iron Ore (KIO).
There was a constructive engagement toward seeking a solution to the current dispute between AMSA and KIO. All parties committed themselves to reaching an agreement, which will put the country first.
The parties agreed to reconvene on Thursday, 22 July, to take forward the mediation process. A further statement will be made after Thursday's meeting.
