The South African Government has been advised that Ms Yolande Korkie, a South African citizen, was released today, 10 January 2013, from captivity in Yemen, though her husband, Mr Pierre Korkie, is still being held captive.
The South African Government welcomes the release of Ms Korkie and would also welcome the release of Mr Korkie.
The Government of the Republic of South Africa wishes to acknowledge the role played by the Gift of the Givers organisation, the Government of Yemen and other role players on the matter of resolving the kidnapping.
