Robbery at Bedwang Police Station North West Province


The National Commissioner of Police, General Bheki Cele has met with repulsion the news of a robbery at the Bedwang police station on Sunday, 10 October 2010.

It has been reported that a group of approximately five men entered the police station under the pretext of being complainants, instead they produced arms and robbed the officials of guns and other police equipment.

General Cele has ordered a thorough nationwide investigation into the robbery by tasking seasoned detectives from the Hawks to take the lead in this regard. To complement this investigation the tactical response teams and other specialised units have been mobilised to speedily track down these criminals and to recover the stolen arms.

Members of the community are urged to participate in this search for the robbers by supplying the police with any information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of the perpetrators. “I have ordered the entire police service to cover every inch of ground to track down these brazen robbers and put them behind bars,” said General Cele.
