Road safety tips for driving in snow conditions

The North West Department of Public Safety on Thursday issued the following road safety tips to motorists for driving in snow conditions:

* Watch your speed, slow down.
* Drive with your head and fog lights on to improve visibility.
* Do not tailgate because braking distances in snow are increased compared to dry conditions.
* Brake and accelerate gently.
* Don't drive if you cannot see the edge of the road or the next snow pole.
* Before you drive add anti-freeze.

The provincial department urges motorists to obey traffic signs and prepare for emergencies.
