Public holidays and non-trading days in December 2013 and January 2014

Market participants are hereby advised that the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) will be closed for trading, trade reporting and settlement on the following official public holidays:

  • Wednesday, 25 December 2013
  • Thursday, 26 December 2013
  • Wednesday, 1 January 2014.

The SARB’s open-market and foreign-exchange transactions, as well as those conducted on behalf of the National Treasury, have been scheduled to mature and settle as usual on business days during December 2013 and January 2014. No settlement will take place via the South African Multiple Options Settlement (SAMOS) system, during the official public holidays mentioned above.

The SARB’s gold and foreign-exchange desks will close at 12h00 on 24 and 31 December 2013. Domestic market operations will be conducted as usual, with the position windows closing at 16h15 on both days.
