President Jacob Zuma has today, 13 November 2013, expressed sadness on the passing of struggle veteran and former soldier of Umkhonto Wesizwe (MK), Mr Leonard Mdingi of Mbizana in the Eastern Cape.
He passed away on 10 November 2013.
"Comrade Mdingi was one of the country's fearless, selfless and disciplined struggle veterans. South Africa has lost a truly selfless hero. I wish to convey our heartfelt condolences to his family, comrades, relatives and friends. We are grateful for his significant contribution in the attainment of freedom we all enjoy today,” President Zuma said.
Mr Mdingi will be buried on 24 November 2013 in Mbizana, Eastern Cape. The President will deliver the eulogy at the funeral.
