President Jacob Zuma mourns stalwart Reggie September

President Jacob Zuma today mourns the sad passing of former trade unionist, Member of Parliament, former executive committee member of the ANC and SACP and leader of the erstwhile South African Coloured People's Organisation, Mr Reginald September, who sadly passed on in Cape Town this weekend.

"He was one of the staunchest revolutionaries the country has ever seen, fiercely opposed to racism even from as early as 15 years of age," said President Zuma.

Reggie September was, together with Dr Yusuf Dadoo and Joe Slovo, one of the first non-Africans to be elected on to the ANC's National Executive Committee (NEC) at the Kabwe Conference in Zambia in 1985.

"The country has lost one of its most revered revolutionaries. We would like to convey our deepest condolences to his wife Comrade Hetty, their children and the entire September family. May his soul rest in peace," said the President.
