President Jacob Zuma employs members of the SANDF to support SAPS during elections

President Jacob Zuma has authorised the employment of members of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF) for service in cooperation with the South African Police Service (SAPS) to maintain law and order during the general elections and the inauguration of the President elect.

One thousand eight hundred and fifty six SANDF members will be employed together with members of the SAPS across the country to prevent and combat crime and ensure maintenance and preservation of law and order during the national and provincial elections on 07 May 2014.

President Zuma has also authorised the employment of two hundred and forty seven members of the SANDF in Gauteng to enhance safety and security during the inauguration of the President elect on 24 May 2014 at the Union Buildings, Pretoria.
