Premier Kiviet asks for stronger working relations

Eastern Cape Premier Noxolo Kiviet has called for team spirit, diligence, openness and honesty to employees of her office. Mrs Kiviet was addressing about 300 Office of the Premier staff members at the Bhisho Community Church in her first meeting with them since her inauguration.

Premier Kiviet was accompanied by her predecessor, former Premier Mbulelo Sogoni who introduced the new premier to her new staff member to a standing ovation.

She said: “As the face of the provincial government, the Office of the Premier has to lead by example in all it does. I have not seen any stones of wrong doing thrown at this office in the past and I do not intend seeing that happening now.”

She encouraged her staff members to conduct themselves in a manner that “will set a positive example” for other government departments, municipalities and public entities. She said this will help change how the province is perceived.
Premier Kiviet praised her predecessor thanking him for “remarkable work” he has done in the past eight months. “You stood up to the challenge and provided the leadership that was required of you with excellence,” she said.

She promised to do her best to create space and provide support for the employees to excel in their work.
