Please do not give your housing registration information out to just anyone!

The Department of Local Government and Housing cautions people from handing over their housing registration forms including C-corms to any members of the public or some Councillors who promise to give them houses. We received information that people are being asked to hand over their C-forms or copies because they will be allocated houses at Lufhereng. The department reminds the community that only the Department of Local Government and Housing has authority to hand over houses.

There is growing interest on the Lufhereng housing development owing to the growing demand for housing, in particular areas in Soweto, Dobsonville and the surrounding areas. We urge our communities to be vigilant and refrain from giving their personal information to anyone. However we recognise that there are many people who have genuinely waited to get their houses for many years. We expect that some of them will benefit in the project with is expected to take eight (8) to ten (10) years to complete.

The MEC Kgaogelo Lekgoro accompanied by the Mayor of Johannesburg Councillor Amos Masondo, Premier Nomvula Mokonyane and Minister Tokyo Sexwale will launch the project. This event will take place on Tuesday, 17 August 2010 at 10h00.They will also hand over the completed houses to beneficiaries who have been patiently waiting for their turn to receive houses.
