One killed and 12 injured in Rustenburg road accident

A 22 year old male passenger died and 12 others were injured after a minibus overturned on the Meriting Road outside Rustenburg on Sunday morning.

The passengers in the minibus were allegedly from the Rustenburg Show to
Boitekong when the driver of the Toyota Quantum minibus lost control of his vehicle near Boitekong to Rustenburg crossroad.

Fatigue is suspected to have caused the accident that occurred around 06h45.

The passengers, 10 seriously injured including the driver and two with minor injuries, were rushed by paramedics to Job Shimankane Tabane hospital.

Police are investigating case of culpable homicide.

North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa, in conveying condolences to the family of the passenger killed in the accident, also wished the injured a speedy recovery.

MEC Yawa appeals to motorists to avoid driving while they are tired.
