Traditional communities in Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati, Ngaka Modiri Molema and Bojanala Platinum Districts have from 5 to 9 December 2013 to return the candidates (for traditional councils) nomination forms to the nearest traditional offices.
The Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA) officials will be present on those days to receive the forms. Only registered voters are allowed to stand in as candidates for the election of traditional councils which will be held on 18 January 2013.
The traditional council election takes place in line with the Traditional Leadership and Governance Act of 2005 which provides for the establishment of traditional councils in traditional communities.
