North West takes Setsokotsane service delivery programme to Jacaranda farm near Klerksdorp

Setsokotsane makes commendable progress in Dr Kenneth Kaunda      

Wearing suits, ties, high heels, expensive make-up and operating from ventilated offices is gradually becoming a thing of the past for government employees in Bokone Bophirima Province as Setsokotsane continues to make laudable progress in fast-tracking the delivery of government services to people in the province.

This morning, employees were working from make-shift offices in a dusty open space at Jacaranda farm near Klerksdorp, where the provincial government mobilised more than 15  government departments and public entities operating in Bokone Bophirima to render government services to communities there as part of the accelerated service delivery approach introduced by Premier Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo.

They rendered services that included surgical circumcision and other health care services, drug abuse awareness, registration of unemployed youth in the Department of Labour database, certification of documents, legal advice and other legal related services, assisting people to apply for child maintenance, and empowering with information pertaining to children’s rights, human trafficking and mediation services, training social cooperatives such as food gardening and sewing projects, attending to issues of domestic violence and outstanding cases and complaints and nutrition education.

“We have been moving with Setsokotsane ever since it started in Dr Kenneth Kuanda District Municipality and so far we have provided services at Tswelelang, Boskuil, Jacaranda among other places,” explained Victor Sebogodi of Golamonna clinic in Klerksdorp.

Another assiduous official, Mavis Majwafi of the Independent Electoral Commission explained that they had been able to assist communities register for the local government elections so that they could exercise their democratic rights to vote when that time comes.

One of the community members Susan Mabele (41) applauded the government for bring the services to their area, adding that she happy because she was also able to raise other issues that affect the community directly with the relevant departments without having to leave the area.

Yesterday, Wednesday August 19, Setsokotsane mobilised various departments to render services at Skietpan farm. Other activities that took place in the local municipality yesterday included an array of meetings and consultations by with various stakeholders.   

Tomorrow, Friday, 21 Setsokotsane will continue to render a range of crucial services at various places across the Matlosana Local Municipality. These include the destruction of illegal gambling machines that will be led by Premier Supra Obakeng Ramoeletsi Mahumapelo, MEC for Finance, Economy and Enterprise Development, Wendy Joy Nelson and the North West Gambling Board executives.
