North West Premier, Maureen Modiselle pays tribute to the late George Masia

North West Premier, Maureen Modiselle, has expressed shock, pain and sadness at the death of Mr George Masia whose life was claimed by a tragic car accident yesterday.

George Masia, who owned the Litchtenburg-based KGE Business Enterprise, died on the road between Litchtenburg and Mafikeng.

"On behalf of the provincial government, my family and the people of the North West (NW), I wish to convey my deepest and sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. May God give them sufficient strength during this most difficult and painful hour", said Premier Modiselle.

"The passing away of Masia marks the end of a life that was committed to the struggle for economic emancipation and black economic empowerment. He will be remembered as an embodiment of the concept of Vuk'uzenzele because he seized the economic opportunities brought by our freedom and democracy to create a better life for himself and his fellow citizens.

"Masia was a genuine partner of government in its efforts to create employment and to push back the frontiers of poverty. Accordingly, the best tribute we can pay to this distinguished citizen of our province is to continue building an economy that benefits all its citizens and to ensure access to economic opportunities by the historically marginalised people of our country.

"We hope his family will find solace in the knowledge that our thoughts and prayers are with them".

KGE Masia Business Enterprise has a contract with the provincial government to transport a number of learners to various schools around the province.
