North West MEC for Public Safety, Howard Yawa was shocked and devastated by a report that that his fellow Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) died after the vehicle she was driving overturned on the R53 Potchefstroom, Ventersdorp road on Tuesday afternoon.
The ANC MPL whose name is withheld until her next of kin are notified of her untimely death allegedly lost control of her Chevrolet Aveo vehicle about five kilometers outside Potchefstroom. She was driving towards Ventersdorp and reportedly died on impact at around 4h00.
The distraught MEC Yawa described the death of the high profiled political leader, gender activist and Member of the Portfolio Committee on Public Safety at the conclusion of Women’s Month as a tragic loss. Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide and the cause of the accident.
