Nomvula Mokonyane's response to allegations

In her own words Nomvula Mokonyane states that; “I have observed over the past few days how a situation expressed or pronounced through the media, and those that allege to represent the residents of Bekkersdal has been blown out of proportion. Understandably, those who were not there at the point of confrontation and attacks may assume and believe that what was said was fact.

Given the situation currently and in the best interest of peace and stability, I really would want to apologise to those who may believe, or who were made to believe that I made such attacks to the residents of Bekkersdal.”

Nomvula further added; “Throughout my years of service and dedication to the people of South Africa, I have always been sensitive to and against accusations and personal attacks and have equally endured such. Despite all these, I have and will forever remain humbled by many that have demonstrated confidence and trust in me.

Let no one be deprived the right to register to vote in respect of the many that have sacrificed their lives towards the emancipation and development of this country. May I wish all the best to the IEC and the people of South Africa. I also pray and wish that this matter may never rise again.”
