The new MEC for the department, Ms Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, has been introduced to the departmental senior management

She has distinguished herself as a revolutionary, a women emancipator, a trade unionist and an all round cadre of the liberation movement. Part of her academic background includes a post graduate degree in Public Policy and Development.

As a dedicated cadre in the movement, she was deployed by the African National Congress (ANC) in Gauteng as an MPL in the Gauteng legislature as a whip (Caucus Treasure). She later occupied the position of Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Environment. She also participated in the ANC Women’s League in various positions. She is currently the Deputy Chairperson of the ANC Women’s League in the Gauteng Province.

She has been involved with Gauteng Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment (GDACE) employees in a number of activities such as the Female Farmer of the Year and farmers support settlement projects in her capacity as Chairperson for Agriculture in the province.

In her remarks this morning she emphasised that she knows that we are a winning team and she plans to take the department to even greater heights. On behalf of the GDACE community, we would like to wish her all success and we promise to work with her to help improve the lives of ordinary South Africans.
