Mpumalanga MEC of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs Simon Skhosana urges eligible voters to register for provincial and national government elections

The MEC for the Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs in Mpumalanga, Simon Skhosana has called upon all prospective voters, especially in Mpumalanga, to visit their voting stations to register or check if their names appear on the voters’ roll during the voter registration weekend, this weekend on the 9th - 10th November 2013.

“We are encouraging all South African Citizens eligible to vote, to make use of the opportunity provided by the Independent Electoral Commission to register for the Provincial and National Elections. If you do not register or do not appear on voters’ roll you will not be able to vote in the forthcoming elections,” said Skhosana.

Unregistered South Africans over the age of 16, those who have recently relocated to the Province and all those who want to confirm if their details appear on the voters roll are requested to visit their voting stations during the weekend. It is important that citizens visit their voting stations to ensure that their names appear on the voters roll as only registered voters will be allowed to vote.

All those who visit the station are requested to bring along their IDs, Smart ID Cards or Temporary Identity Certificate (TIC) so as to make their registration or re-registration possible. The ID holder has to come in person.

MEC Skhosana also calls upon all those who have applied for their identity documents (ID) to go and collect them from the respective Home Affairs offices.
