Modiselle congratulates national orders recipients

North West Premier, Maureen Modiselle, has congratulated the North West recipients of the national orders. The awards were handed to various recipients by the President of the Republic of South Africa, Mr Jacob Zuma, on Friday.

Distinguished citizens from the North West who were recognised are the late Job Shimankana Tabane (aka Cassius Maake) who received the Order of Mendi Decorations for Bravery (gold) for his exceptional contribution to the struggle for freedom, displaying extreme courage against all odds and ultimately sacrificing his life for a democratic South Africa; Mr Simon Senna received the Order of Luthuli (silver) for his excellent contribution to the struggle against apartheid and his selfless service to the people of South Africa; Ms Sina Keitsing, for her outstanding contribution to the struggle for liberation and providing safe passage to exiled cadres in Botswana during the struggle for liberation.

Premier Modiselle paid tribute to these distinguished and exceptional citizens who selflessly placed their lives in service of their people and country. "These are the patriots who consciously chose the path of service to their fellow citizens. They made all these sacrifices without seeking any personal glory or reward to themselves".

Modiselle urged the people of the North West to follow their example. "I challenge all South Africans who consider themselves patriots to follow the example of these patriots and their selfless service to their people," said Modiselle.
