The Ministry of Defence regrets to announce the name of a member of the South African Air Force who passed on following a helicopter accident (Agusta A109 Light Utility helicopter) at the Woodstock Dam in Kwazulu-Natal on Tuesday 12 May 2009.
He was Captain Bongani Mdluli (34) from 17 Squadron, based at Air Force Base
Swartkop, in Pretoria. Captain Mdluli, who resided at Riverlea in Western
Johannesburg was the commander of the Agusta A109. He joined the SA Air
Force in 2000 and received his pilot wings in 2003.
He is survived by his sister, Miss LR Mdluli. Funeral arrangements will be announced once they have been confirmed by the family.
The search for the remaining two SA Air Force members continues.
