Minister Ndebele condemns Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) shooting

Transport Minister Sibusiso Ndebele has called upon the Police to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for the brutal attack on Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) commuters, which left one person dead and others injured, in Johannesburg on Friday, 30 April 2010, are brought to book.

“We re-iterate our condemnation of these brutal attacks on innocent commuters, which resulted in death and injuries. We call upon the Police to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those who are responsible for this merciless act are brought to book.

“Government will not stand idle when criminal elements threaten stability in our country by killing innocent people going about their normal lives. If we allow lawlessness to creep in, we would be allowing a descent into chaos. This we will not allow.

“We remain fully committed to ensuring that we provide safe, efficient, reliable and affordable public transport to the citizens of our country,” said the Minister.
