Minister Gigaba bids farewell to Eskom GCE

The Minister of Public Enterprises, Mr Malusi Gigaba has noted the resignation of Eskom SOC Group CE, Mr Brian Dames. The Board has accepted Mr Dames’ resignation with his last day of service being 31 March 2014.

As the shareholder representative, the Minister has directed the Board to expedite the recruitment process to find a suitable successor to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr Dames has led Eskom during a period, when the company is busy with the implementation of the massive build programme while at the same time managing a tight system aimed at ensuring security of electricity supply.

The Minister commends him for putting the foundation of the build programme in place, where the three power stations, Medupi, Kusile and Ingula are already at advanced stages of construction. Significant progress has been made during his tenure at the helm of the organisation and we are confident that he leaves behind a capable team of executives to continue with the work.

Mr Dames steered the company meticulously with integrity, despite the many challenges he managed to keep the company stable.

Minister Gigaba wishes him well as he pursues other business opportunities as his vast experience and knowledge is still needed in the country.
