Minister Baloyi commits to implement findings of the Public Service Commission (PSC) on corruption

The Minister for Public Service and Administration Richard Baloyi has welcomed the Public Service Commission (PSC) report and committed to work closely with the commission to assist in the enforcement of the recommendations.

Minister Baloyi says the findings of the commission will be made easier to implement due to the fact that the work of the Special Anti-Corruption Unit investigating corrupt and unlawful practices in the public service is well underway.

The Minister launched the Anti-Corruption Unit to coordinate and manage investigations and to ensure that disciplinary measures are taken against corrupt officials. To that effect the department is working on possible legislative amendments to the Public Service Act for uniformity in dealing with disciplinary cases.

A process is underway to designate ethics officers in departments to manage conflict of interests and ensure clean procurement and tendering practice. Again, the Minister commends the work of the commission and on this basis government will ensure that corrupt practices are rooted out in the public service.
