A military motor cycle accident claims a life of a South African National Defence Force member

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) regrets to announce the sudden death of its member in a military motor cycle accident on Tuesday, 17 September 2013, whilst on official duty.

The accident happened at Kempton Park en route to Oliver Tambo International Airport, when the member lost control of his motor cycle. The deceased was a member of the Military Police VIP Escort Team assigned a mission to escort VIP officials from the airport.

The name of the deceased cannot be disclosed until the next-of-kin have been informed.

Minister of Defence and Military Veterans, Ms Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, Chief of the SANDF, General Solly Shoke and Provost Marshall General, Brigadier General Tshepo Buhali convey their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased member.
