Just when the province and the country at large were celebrating 16 years of freedom, death yet again, stole one of our trusted comrades, in the name of Cde Sepitle Mphahlale. During the hours of the commemoration of our memorable day of freedom, we learned of the sad news about the passing on of Cde Sepitle Mphahlele, the Municipal Manager of Lepelle-Nkumpi Local Municipality and a dedicated servant of the people. It is still difficult to come to terms with the news that one of the giants of our struggle for a better life for all is no more. As the ANC led government, we lower our banner in mourning his sudden departure.
On behalf of the people of Limpopo, the government, and my family, I would like to send our message of condolences to Cde Sepitle Mphahlele’s family for the untimely passing on of Cde Sepitle, with whom we have registered significant strides in providing basic services to the people, in particular the rural based communities. Indeed, we have been robbed of a true leader and a good manager of unparalleled credentials.
Our message of comfort, sympathy and condolences remains due to Cde Mphahlele’s wife, children and all extended family members.
The turbulent and testing journey we travelled together with Cde Sepitle in the student movements, the youth movements and the congress movements will remain everlasting in our memories. We will further the work of bettering the living conditions of the people and do everything in our power to ensure that we preserve the legacy that Cde Sepitle has devoted much of his life to construct.
