The Department of Agriculture, Environmental Affairs and Rural Development strongly condemns all criminal activities that take place at Ndumo Game Reserve. The department and Ezemvelo KwaZulu-Natal Wildlife are working closely with the police to curb any criminal offences in the area and those that have been found in contravention of the laws for the protected areas will face the full might of the law.
The department is in a process of engaging local communities on the matter and the reported criminal activities are a great concern to this process. We will however continue with the process until the matter is successfully resolved. The department urges the local people to refrain from activities that could jeopardise the process of finding a lasting solution to Ndumo. We have confidence in the law as well police efforts in tightening security around the park.
