Media release by the Department Of Defence: Update on the Emma Pringle case at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital

Members of the South African Military Health Service (SAMHS) were proud to answer the call by the family of Emma Pringle on Monday, 6 September 2010 at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital when she was in need of medical care after her swimming pool accident.

The SAMHS assisted the family and facilitated the process to hand Emma over to the clinical personnel at the hospital who reported back to their posts after the public servant’s strike has been suspended on Monday.

The SAMHS is currently in the process of withdrawing from hospitals as the situation normalises and healthcare workers and other personnel are returning to their posts.

More than 1 700 members of the SAMHS were deployed at 73 hospitals during the strike and assisted with providing health care but also cleaning services.
