Newly appointed Health MEC Honourable Phumulo Masaulle officially received a welcoming session from the department’s top management at the Global Life Conference Centre on 11 May 2009.
The MEC strongly admitted to knowing very little about the department but with the help of management is looking forward to start serving the people of the Eastern Cape.
“We cannot run away from the fact that we have challenges but with the right mind and attitude we can overcome those challenges,” MEC said.
The session was also a showcase of what the department has to offer as different programmes put stalls that ranged from Nutrition to HIV and AIDS and Tuberculosis (TB) where programme managers gave an overview to the MEC.
The MEC could not stress enough the issue of working as a collective, “we have a duty collectively to deal with the image of the department, change the perception and deal with mindset images,” he said.
Honourable Masaulle concluded by saying he looked forward and is very willing to work with what looks like a formidable team, “we all have a common goal which is to do the job,” Masaulle said.
