MEC Nono Maloyi congratulates his department on unqualified Auditor General report

Unqualified AGSA report for Human Settlements in the North West

North West MEC for Human Settlements, also the acting premier Nono Maloyi congratulated his department after it achieved an unqualified Auditor General report for the financial year 2022-2023. The achievement is said to have been the results of the stringent systems that were set by the department to ensure that proper processes are followed and resources used as according to policy and regulations.

MEC Maloyi called on officials in his department, during his departmental budget vote presentation earlier this year, to put systems in place to ensure that the Post Audit Action Plan is implemented and proper systems are put in place. “The achievement simply says we are taking a step in the right direction. We must strive to improve the status quo. We are going to close all the loopholes and ensure that we adhere to rules and regulations as directed by policy. I’m hopeful that we will keep the momentum and continue to build on the winning team. Monitoring and evaluation will continue to be the order of the day. We must work SMART”, said Maloyi.

The head of department Kgomotso Mahlobo also shared MEC’ Maloyi’s sentiments. Mahlobo said that the victory should be dedicated to the Human Settlements team that spent sleepless nights to achieve the goal. We are going to make it a culture in this department that we adhere to the Public Finance Management Act and other regulations and policies governing the public service. We have been working closely with the Auditor General’s office and will continue to seek their guidance going forward. I’m glad that we have set systems and everybody followed the bandwagon”, said Mahlobo.  

The department has in the previous years, been getting qualified reports on different administrative aspects. According to the department after following the AGSA’s recommendations and carefully following the PAAP, and the efforts paid positively. The department has thus far committed to work tirelessly within its mandate of building habitable homes and creating a sustainable human settlements for all the people of the North West province. The department further committed to diligently ensure financial and performance management, and further gave praise to the entire Human Settlements’ staff, and its management for the positive step in the right direction.
