Gauteng Health and Social Development MEC, Qedani Mahlangu, has condemned the attack on a 12 year old boy from Tembisa, Ekurhuleni by bullies. The boy who is reported to be fighting for his life at a hospital was doused with benzene and set alight by bullies on Monday.
MEC Mahlangu says bullying perpetuates a culture of violence and society must not tolerate such incidents.
"Any form of bullying is not tolerable. Society and parents especially have a responsibility in ensuring that we build a society on principle of tolerance," she said.
Mahlangu says counselling for the victim and his family as well as perpetrators would be arranged.
