Measures in place to ensure clean bill of health for Confederation Cup

Football fans attending the FIFA Confederations Cup matches in Rustenburg’s Royal Bafokeng Stadium and fan parks can rest assured that their health will be taken care of.

The North West Department of Health and Social Development has put in place fully equipped medical centre at the stadium, which among others include a spectator centre, two spectator medical posts, a very important persons (VIP) medical post and a players medical centre. Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) satellite stations will be established in all major routes leading to Platinum province’s host city. The satellite services will be established in conjunction with the police.

Thirteen ambulances, a disaster bus and two golf carts will be stationed at the medical centre, while eight ambulances will ensure unfortunate incidents that require medical attention will be attended in all routes.

General guidelines provided by the Local Organising Committee’s (LOC) technical committee regarding the design and criteria for medical centre and medical posts at the stadium were adhered to.

Taking cognisance that the tournament is held in winter, the department’s communicable diseases control work force has developed extensive plan to deal with any influenza. Forty surveillance have been trained to maximise monitoring and inspection.

Job Shimankane Tabane hospital has identified isolation unit that will be dedicated to the tournament of champions.
