Limpopo Youth Commission support the launched Charter of Positive Values

The Limpopo Youth Commission would like to welcome the launch of the ‘Charter of Positive Values’ which took place at Taxila secondary school on 14 July 2010. The charter which came as an initiative of the Moral Regeneration Movement (MRM) in partnership with the Department of Arts and Culture is welcomed as a positive step in ensuring that our society continues to respect all individuals irrespective of their racial, social or economic standings.

The Charter of Positive Values speaks to amongst other issues the respect for human dignity and equality, promotion of freedom, the rule of law and democracy, improving material well being and Economic Justice in the society. These values remain vital in creating a society with individuals that respect each other and uphold individual human rights. The Youth Commission calls upon youth organisations, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and civil movements across all spheres to align some of their programmes with those of MRM as we continue to address youth development being cognizant of our past and the need for reconciliation within our society.

As we continue to celebrate the moral regeneration month, young people are further encouraged to read the Charter of Positive Values, understand it and share the information with fellow young people. We should always remember that a diverse society like ours should continuously address its struggles and challenges so as to produce an equal and just society in which everyone knows that South African belongs to all who dwell in it.
