Let's support the class of 2010! One hundred days to go!

The Department of Basic Education wishes to alert all grade 12 learners and their parents and members of the community that there are now 100 days left for preparation and revision before many learners start writing the national senior certificate examinations.

The department wishes to remind all Grade 12 learners and their parents how important this time is as they count down the school year before the beginning of their National Senior Certificate exams.

The 100 days include all weekends and holidays. Every day counts! The message to the grade 12 class of 2010 is: "Get organised now! Don't delay another day".

Learners must not miss any school days between now and exams. They must check the national senior certificate examination timetable and develop their own personal examination timetable.

They should work out a study schedule so that they allocate sufficient time for revision for each subject. Select fixed study times for every day (including weekends) and break up topics into manageable sections in each subject.

Learners should attend additional classes wherever they are offered on Saturdays and after school. These classes are held to assist learners revise the relevant sections of the curriculum.

Learners should make sure that all their study materials are in order, notes, worksheets and textbooks. If they have anything missing they should ensure that they get hold of the material from a teacher or fellow learner.

If they have missed school at any stage they should ensure that they have caught up on that section of the curriculum. They must also access as many past examination papers as possible for each subject and use them as part of exam preparation.

Learners should try to find a quiet space that is conducive to studying, at home, school or library, community or church hall, wherever you feel comfortable and safe.

Parents and care givers should support our entire grade 12s in their exam preparations through encouragement and helping them to create sound study habits and spaces wherever they can.

Let us all work together to ensure that our grade 12s achieve their goals. Organisation and taking responsibility are steps towards success.
