KwaZulu-Natal government scoops gold for Royal Show Awards

The exhibition stand of the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government scooped the gold medallion award for display at the 158th Royal Show held in Pietermaritzburg.

This is the second year running that the provincial government, which hosts 11 departments, scooped the prestigious prize.

Premier Dr Zweli Mkhize said: “It is indeed encouraging to know that our government has been measured for its excellence in the manner in which it relates to the public and provides information. The display is a good barometer to measure service excellence.”

“The royal show has been used primarily to market the competitiveness of the province’s agriculture. With our collective brand at the royal show we are able to reach out to our communities, sending out a powerful message that improving our collective agricultural output in a province rich in potential is a key intervention to address poverty, promote rural development, create jobs and boost economic growth.”

Dr Mkhize, on behalf of the provincial executive, congratulated all public servants involved in putting the stand together, adding that scooping this prestigious award reflected well on government as a whole and its commitment to improving service delivery.
