Government saddened by the passing on of Sipho Khumalo a veteran journalist and government communicator

The KwaZulu-Natal Government has received with great shock and sadness news of the passing of one of South Africa’s veteran journalists and prolific government communicator, Mr Sipho Khumalo. Khumalo passed away in the early hours of this morning after a long illness.

KwaZulu-Natal Leader of Government Business and MEC for Economic Development Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Mr Sihle Zikalala described Khumalo as a seasoned newsman whose reporting had contributed immensely to shaping South Africa’s discourse during the struggle for freedom.

“It is with great sadness that we have learned of the passing of Mr Khumalo - a gifted journalist with great political understanding, and a man who conducted himself with complete professionalism throughout his illustrious career. These talents served him well in his public service career and he excelled during his years with the provincial government. Our sincere condolences go out to wife Mrs Dolly Ngubane-Khumalo, his children and grandchildren and his father, December Khumalo," Zikalala said.
