KwaZulu-Natal Government on meeting Bishop HQ Nala

KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Government and Bishop HQ Nala agrees that people should continue taking ARVs

A meeting between KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Provincial Government led by the Premier of the Province of KwaZulu-Natal Mr Senzo Mchunu and Bishop H.Q Nala of the Rebirth Family Centre was held in Durban today. The meeting was also attended by the MEC for Health Dr Sbongiseni Dhlomo, Bishop Zondo of the Rivers of Living Waters Church and Dr Tim Tebeila, a business man.

“The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the controversy behind the faith water as healing AIDS. This also includes statements attributed to Bishop Nala that people should not take ARVs.”

“The meeting was held peacefully and discussions were frank and open. However, because of the UNAIDS’s launch of the Best Practice multi-sectoral service delivery model and South Africa’s 2012 HIV estimates and projections report by the UNAIDS, it was agreed that parties should continue with discussions until the controversy is resolved.”

“All parties agreed that Bishop Nala should encourage people to continue taking ARVs and other medication prescribed by health practitioners even if they are using faith water. The meeting further emphasised that another meeting will be convened and a statement will be made to the people of KwaZulu-Natal and the whole country.”
