KwaZulu-Natal Education suspends learners for bullying a fellow pupil

School violence is one of the most serious problems because of detrimental effects on forming human-beings characteristics and future of the nation. The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal has taken a firm stance against school violence and those who exercise it.

MEC for Education in KwaZulu-Natal Mr Kwazi Mshengu has condemned the act of violence following a video clip that went viral on social media showing a group of school girls assaulting their defenceless schoolmate. According to the district officials, this senseless act occurred at Newlands East Secondary school yesterday, 11 February 2020.

All learners who have been implicated in an attack of their schoolmate have been duly placed on suspension.

“We call on parents to teach their children the values of tolerance and peace to help stamp out in violence in schools”- said MEC Mshengu.

The Department of Education in KwaZulu-Natal does not tolerate violence and will act harshly on those who perpetrate it.
