Justice and Constitutional Development calls on applications for education assistance for TRC-identified victims of apartheid

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development calls on Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) identified victims of apartheid that were declared as such by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, to apply for financial assistance for basic education, as well as for higher education and training. Applications for the 2018 academic year should reach the Department not later than 30 September 2017.

The regulations relating to assistance to victims in respect of Higher Education and Training came into operation on 7 November 2014, providing for assistance to qualifying declared TRC victims and their relatives and dependants in respect of adult education and training (3 years); further education and training (the duration of the assistance differs depending on the nature of the studies); higher education (5 years) and skills development (the duration of the assistance differs depending on the nature of the studies).

Eligible candidates who wish to apply are advised to consult the regulations for the various categories of assistance available. The regulations and application forms are available on the department’s website.
