Installation of Inkosi Chiliza

The community of kwaMgayi Traditional Council, greatly rejoiced this weekend, when his Majesty the King, Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu, visited this community, for the installation of their Traditional Leader, iNkosi Ndabingehlele Chiliza.

This community in uMzumbe under Ugu District Municipality, gladly received his Majesty, who was accompanied by the Honourable MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, during the installation ceremony which took place on 1 November.

In his address to the community, his Majesty called upon the community to utilise the fertile land that they have, been blessed with by God. According to his Majesty, this community has the potential to produce enough food, to the extent that they also be able to export it to other countries. His Majesty also called upon the community to make sure that women and children are protected.

The MEC for COGTA, in her address, called upon the community to work together with government to ensure that service delivery is brought to communities at a rapid pace. Dube-Ncube also called upon the members of the community to utilise the opportunities that are open to them, since they are closely located to the Dube Tradeport, which can means that, whatever products that get produced by the community would be easy to transport into the global markets.

The MEC also during the day, officially opened the residence of iNkosi Chiliza, which has been built by the government so that members of the community will can have a dignified place in which they can meet their iNkosi.

During the installation, Dube-Ncube, explained that the residence that has been built, belongs to the community and the reigning chief. “The residence will be used by the reigning iNkosi during his reign, and the iNkosi that follows will also use the residence,” said Dube-Ncube.
